A West Duluth bank was the site of an attempted robbery today for the second time in about a month.
A man entered the Western Bank, 201 N. Central Ave., shortly after 4 p.m. and demanded money from a teller.
Duluth Police Sgt. Leigh Wright did not know if he displayed or implied a weapon.
The suspect, a man in his 60s, was taken into custody within minutes of leaving the bank.
David Ernest Schaer, 36, of Bayport, Minn., is accused of robbing the same bank Aug. 28. According to police, the robber told the teller he had a gun and left with $2,200. Schaer was apprehended in a taxicab on Interstate 35 near the Esko exit.
