Weekend gets off to a running start

This year's Grandma's Marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, in Two Harbors. The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon will begin an hour earlier about three blocks north of Lakeview Castle.

One name that will never be forgotten when it comes to Grandma's is Wesly Ngetich, last year's champion.

Ngetich was killed during fighting in his native Kenya in January. There will be a moment of silence before the race begins to honor the two-time Grandma's winner.

On the lighter side of things, many local runners (perhaps your friends and family?) will be competing in the event.
