Wednesday's weather for Duluth and the Northland: Partly cloudy

High pressure builds in today through Friday. Because of this high and its associated ridge in the jet stream, we will clear out. Expect partly cloudy skies today with northwest winds at 5-10 mph. Highs will be in the mid-40s.

High pressure builds in today through Friday. Because of this high and its associated ridge in the jet stream, we will clear out. Expect partly cloudy skies today with northwest winds at 5-10 mph. Highs will be in the mid-40s.

Thursday we'll have mostly sunny skies and highs near 48 and lows in the mid-20s.

Friday will be a bit warmer with 28 for a low and highs in the low 50s and mostly sunny skies.

On Saturday we're watching a low-pressure system approach. I really think we won't see any precipitation until the evening or overnight. With the counter-clockwise flow around it, we'll have a surge of warm air from the south, and winds will be breezy. Highs will be near 51, with lows in the mid-30s. I'm keeping a 30 percent chance of showers for the deer-hunting opener.

I've increased the chance of snow or rain on Sunday to 50 percent with windy conditions. Lows will be near 38 and highs at 42. The low exits the region Sunday night into Monday morning.
