Hazy skies from wildfire smoke should gradually improve Wednesday. We settle back into a cool stretch assisted by a breezy northwest wind. Highs range from the mid 50s for the Iron Range to the mid 60s near Hayward. Apart from lingering haze, skies become clear as an area of high pressure slides into our region where it will hang around through Friday. That lack of cloud cover and dry air in place will allow temperatures to drop into the low and mid 30s across the Northland Wednesday night with a Frost Advisory in effect until 8 a.m. Thursday. A Freeze Warning is in effect for Aitkin County and across the Arrowhead region where temps could dip into the 20s. Take steps to protect plants. Temperatures remain cooler than average through Thursday and Friday, allowing for another frosty start Friday morning.

Wednesday: Skies becoming clear, breezy. High 62. NW wind 10-15 mph. Mostly clear overnight with areas of frost possible. Low 34. NW wind 5-10 mph.
