Duluth hit a record high of 89 degrees on Tuesday, June 16, according to the National Weather Service.
The previous record was 88 degrees in 1907 and according to the NWS daily climate report, it’s 18 degrees higher than normal. On the same day last year, the city’s high temperature was 65 degrees.
Brainerd also reached a new record temperature of 95 degrees, surpassing the previous record of 91 set in 1933.
NWS reports that the Northland temperatures are likely to remain high in the 80s into Wednesday, then drop off to seasonable temperatures of 60s and 70s by the weekend.
