The Duluth Fire Department issued a red-flag warning for Park Point beaches Sunday, warning people do stay out of the water due to a high risk of rip currents.

"Rip currents are life-threatening to anyone entering the water. Stay out of the water regardless of your swimming experience," a news release from the fire department stated. "There are currently no lifeguards at Park Point and red flags are flying along the beach to indicate dangerous swimming conditions."

The warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday. There are currently red flags flying at 12th Street Beach, Lafayette Square and Park Point Beach.
