The Duluth Fire Department is urging swimmers to stay away from Park Point because of a high risk of rip currents on Tuesday.

The department issued a red-flag warning for dangerous swimming conditions off the 12th Street, Lafayette Square and Park Point beaches until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The warning means that wind and wave conditions can support rip currents, which can be life-threatening to anyone in the water, regardless of swimming experience or skill.

The department reminds swimmers there are no lifeguards on Park Point.
