The Twin Ports could see thunderstorms sweep in around dinnertime Tuesday, the National Weather Service says, and they could bring strong winds and damaging hail.

Storms are expected to hit the Iron Range early in the afternoon and make their way south, with rainfall estimates ranging from a half-inch to an inch.

"Generally we're just looking at showers and thunderstorms — heavy rain, lightning," said meteorologist Josh Sandstrom at the NWS Duluth office. "I don't think there will be too much of a flooding issue."

There is a remote chance the storms could produce a tornado on the western edge of the storms near Cass Lake.
