WQOW-TV and the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram now are reporting that an island in the Chippewa River in Eau Claire may not have moved after all.
Apparently city public works officials had thought the island moved and was threatening a major water main in the area of the North Crossing bridge – but after further review determined it had not shifted.

The Chippewa River, like many others in central Wisconsin and southern Minnesota, is under a flood warning and is continuing to rise from ongoing heavy rain. The river is forecast to reach major flooding stage and crest this weekend.
