WDIO and WIRT-TV expect to have stronger digital television signals after ending analog broadcasts next week.
The Duluth and Hibbing ABC stations are using temporary digital transmitters as they broadcast both digital and analog signals. The temporary digital transmitters "are low power, and we are using small side-mounted antennas. So our current digital reach is fair at best," David Poirier, WDIO/WIRT-TV operations manager said in a news release.
The stations will halt analog broadcasts just before midnight Tuesday. They will also turn off their temporary digital transmitters and turn on their permanent digital transmitters.
WDIO-TV expects to receive a new digital antenna in March or April.
