Water has been restored to Duluth's upper Lakeside neighborhood after six water main breaks Sunday, though another break was reported late Monday that was expected to close Rockridge School today.
The school's private water line was leaking, and will close today so the school can make repairs, said Steve Lipinski, manager of utility operations for the Duluth Public Works and Utilities Department.
Five breaks affecting homes between Oakley and Gladstone streets were repaired Sunday, and one break, at 48½ Avenue East above Oakley Street was fixed Monday, Lipinski said.
Dozens of homes were without water for four to eight hours, Lipinski said, because frost apparently caused water pipes to crack and give way.
In homes affected by the sixth break, water was kept on for the night and then shut off for repairs Monday morning, Lipinski said.

The breaks at 1917 N. 47th Ave. E. and 4508 Oakley were repaired by 6 p.m. Sunday. Crews worked on others at 5030 Avondale, 4718 Oakley and the intersection of 50th Avenue East and Oakley during the evening.
