Voter turnout in St. Louis County during Tuesday's election saw a decline from the past two statewide elections.
About 68 percent of registered voters cast their ballots on Tuesday, or 90,627 out of 132,184 people registered, according to unofficial numbers provided by the St. Louis County Auditor's Office.
That's a steep decline from the presidential election in 2004, when 92 percent of registered voters hit the polls.
During the last midterm election, in 2002, 77 percent of registered voters cast ballots in St. Louis County.
The office said the 2006 numbers would become official sometime today after workers there were done rechecking the ballots. The office did not yet have numbers for the number of registered voters in Duluth who cast their ballots.
