The Kids Championship Power Racing Organization has begun its 2018 ice racing season on area lakes.

On Saturday, Jan. 13, around 30 kids ages 4-14 braved below zero temperatures for a few laps on Pike Lake in Duluth.

The races, which run through March depending on ice conditions, change locations each week. The kids race as far north as Ely and as far south as Rice Lake, Wis.
