A rash of broken windows was reported in Superior this week.

While most were vehicle windows that had been shot out with what appeared to be a BB gun, five windows were reported shot out of the Board of Trade building, 1505 Tower Ave.

On Tuesday morning, Superior police responded to at least seven reports of windows being shot out of vehicles in the city's East End, Billings Park and downtown neighborhoods. The Board of Trade building and a downtown car incident were reported Wednesday. On Thursday morning, a number of vehicles with broken windows were reported along the 2600 block area of Hammond Avenue as well as an individual incident along Maryland Avenue.

Superior Police Capt. Thomas Champaigne said the damage was discovered in the morning and none of the victims heard the windows breaking or saw any suspect vehicle. He couldn't confirm if it had anything to do with last year's rashes of car window shootings, but did stress the importance of keeping vehicles parked off the street.

"We always have a higher possibility of damage to our vehicles if they are parked on the roadway," Champaigne said. "Vandals, reckless drivers, traffic are all closer to a vehicle on the road versus a vehicle parked in a driveway or in the garage."
