Nora Roberts saved the best for last in her trilogy about a fairy-tale queen, vampire, sorcerer, witch, demon slayer and shape shifter's quest to save the world from an evil vampire queen and her army of blood suckers.

The first two books in the series, "Morrigan's Cross" and "Dance of the Gods," set up the inevitable and fated showdown between the army of good, led by the six chosen by the goddess Morrigan, and the evil masses of vampires led by the wicked Lilith.

As the final battle grows closer, Hoyt and Glenna, and Larkin and Blair, are enjoying their newfound bliss. And Moira and Cian finally start to succumb to theirs.

Moira is the queen of Geall, a fairy-tale sort of place where dragons fly and peace has reigned for years. Alas, it's also the place where the battle between good and evil will rage to determine the fate of the worlds.

Cian is the vampire -- but remember, he's a good vampire who has long eschewed the evil ways of the undead and hasn't feasted on a human in hundreds of years. He has spent the past couple of centuries amassing wealth and trying to stay out of trouble. When his brother Hoyt travels through time to ask him to join the battle against the evil vampire queen that changed Cian, he agrees.

When he meets Moira, he's not sure whether to thank Hoyt or curse him. Like the others before them, they embrace that love despite believing it's doomed.

Obviously, they forgot they're dealing with magic.
