The atrium of the new student center at the University of Wisconsin-Superior will be named for Don Shippar, the university announced Thursday.
Shippar is a 1988 UWS alumnus and chairman, president and chief executive officer of Duluth-based Allete, which owns Minnesota Power. The Minnesota Power Foundation gave $150,000 to UWS's Campaign Superior for the project.
