UWS routs Northland

The Wisconsin-Superior men's hockey team defeated Northland College 9-1 Friday night at Wessman Arena.

The No. 4 Yellowjackets (11-3 overall, 4-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association) had four first-period goals, including one on a power play.

Freshman Chris Berry scored the first goal at 5:48 of the first period, assisted by Brian Bina and Myles Palliser. Braden Desmet connected nearly two minutes later on a 2-on-1 breakaway with Seth Reda.

The Yellowjackets were on the attack most of the second, outshooting Northland 21-1 in the period.

Dustin Cosgrove scored at the 5:27 mark, assisted by Rein to make it 5-0. Corey Stark scored twice later in the period for the 7-0 edge.

Cloquet native Cory Lennartson collected five assists, and Palliser had three for UWS.

Goaltender Baron Bradley stopped seven of the eight shots. Northland's Bo Storozuk had 46 saves on55 shots.
