A University of Wisconsin-Superior mock mediation team recently placed second in a national competition.
UWS's Team 492 won the second-place trophy in the advocacy/client category at the National Mock Mediation Tournament held Friday and Saturday at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, according to a UWS. Team members are Ben Briggs of Proctor, Natalie Steinert of Cloquet and Crystal Prior of Superior.
Also competing at the event was UWS Team 493, consisting of Connie Roy of Cloquet, Amanda Peterson of Grand Rapids and Dawn Aubid of McGregor.
Several UWS students earned individual honors at the tournament.
Roy was designated an All-America Mediator by placing 12th among 32 contestant in Round 3 of the competition.

Steinert and Briggs won All-America Advocate awards by placing second in Round 3.
Briggs and Prior won All-America Advocate awards for Outstanding Overall in advocate/client team skills with a record-breaking 65.79 international percentage points during round one competition.
Mock mediation is an academic forensic activity that teaches students how to analyze, argue, negotiate, and present cases in the arena of mediation. A mock mediation competition poses hypothetical situations to the students, who then act as mediators, clients and advocates in a competitive round with teams from schools around the nation.
