UPDATED: Sheriff's Office releases name of snowmobiler killed Sunday

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a snowmobiler killed when he collided with a car northwest of Duluth Sunday afternoon.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a snowmobiler killed when he collided with a car northwest of Duluth Sunday afternoon.

Garrett Kyle Yell, 25, of Rice Lake Township, was northbound when he collided with a southbound motor vehicle. First Responders were unable to revive Yell, and he died at the scene.

The accident happened at 2:17 p.m. on Hunter Lake Road West and Taft Road in Fredenberg Township. The St. Louis County Sheriff's department is investigating.

"Some preliminary indications show that there is speed and alcohol involved on the part of the snowmobiles in this case," Patrol Sgt. Wade Rasch of the sheriff's office said.

A snowmobiler who was traveling with the victim was not injured. According to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, this snowmobiler was arrested for snowmobiling while intoxicated.
