The National Weather Service has expanded a winter weather advisory to include Duluth and Superior, for the potential of sleet and freezing rain tonight.
The advisories are in effect until 5 a.m. Saturday for southern. St. Louis, Carlton, Cook, Lake and Pine counties in Minnesota, and the following counties in Wisconsin: Douglas, Burnett, Bayfield, Ashland, Iron, Sawyer and Washburn.
The National Weather Service reports that rain showers across the region tonight may turn to sleet or freezing rain in the advisory areas.
Ice accumulations up to a quarter-inch are possible in Wisconsin, with the greatest ice accumulations from the higher elevations of the Gogebic Range westward toward Cable.
In Minnesota, a glazing to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible, especially for higher elevations inland from Lake Superior.

Temperatures are forecast to quickly rise above freezing after daybreak on Saturday.
