Heavy rain that fell overnight across the Northland - as much as 3 to 6 inches in some spots, according to radar estimates - prompted flood warnings and advisories for some areas.
However, officials in Cook, Lake and Bayfield counties - the locations of the greatest estimated rainfall - said this morning they had received no reports of flood damage.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for northern Bayfield County that was in effect until 8 a.m. The warning included Bayfield, Washburn, Cornucopia, Herbster and Port Wing. Radar estimated as much as a half-foot of rain fell overnight in the warning area.
A flood advisory was in effect until 6:30 a.m. for central Cook and east-central Lake counties, where radar estimated 2 to 5 inches of rain fell overnight. The advisory included the Sawbill Landing, Forest Center, Brule Lake and Perent Lake areas.
Rain is out of the forecast for the rest of the day in the Twin Ports as summer makes a return. After some early morning fog burns off, highs should reach the mid-80s in Duluth under partly cloudy skies.
