Minnesota's employment ranks fell for the second consecutive month in January, though the unemployment rate held steady at 3.7 percent, below the national mark of 5.7 percent, according to data released Tuesday.
Minnesota employers cut 7,900 seasonally adjusted jobs in January, reported the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED).
Also, revised federal labor statistics - taking into account more complete data - showed that Minnesota added 11,620 fewer jobs than originally reported in 2014 compared to 2013.
In January, Minnesota's trade, transportation and utilities industries were hit hardest, shedding 6,000 jobs, according to DEED. Construction jobs fell by 1,700, while information and manufacturing jobs respectively declined by 1,700 and 1,100.
Professional and business services led all sectors in January, gaining 2,200 jobs, and was followed by education and health services, which added 1,500 jobs.
