A new Swenson College of Science and Engineering dean begins at the University of Minnesota Duluth this summer.
Dr. Josh Hamilton, who will also be a faculty member in the biology department, was previously at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Mass. He served there as chief academic and scientific officer from 2008-13, overseeing research centers, research and programs.
He earned his doctoral degree in toxicology and a master’s degree in genetics from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He also has been a faculty member at Dartmouth’s Geisel School of Medicine in Hanover, N.H., and a senior scientist with the Marine Biological Laboratory. He replaces James Riehl, who retired from the position after 14 years.
