The University of Minnesota Duluth will host Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day: "Discovering Our Minnesota Landscape Using GIS" on Thursday.
The free, public event will be held in the UMD Ballroom from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More than twenty regional organizations will display maps and demonstrations of how GIS technology is used in the community.
Presentations through the day include:
10 a.m.: Minnesota Geocaching Association, GPS and Geocaching 101.
10:30 a.m.: Farm Service Agency, The Farm Service Agency and GIS.

11:30 a.m. MPCA, the Lake Superior Basin Plan.
Noon: Polar explorer Lonnie Dupre, GPS and Map Technology in the Arctic.
1 p.m.: Minnesota DNR, Poducing Aerial Photography.
1:30 p.m.: St Louis County Planning, What's New in the County
2 p.m.: MnDOT, Snow and Ice Mapping
2:30 p.m.: UMD NRRI, GIS in Natural Resource Management
