Though work due to flooding is still ongoing, U.S. Highway 2 in Ashland and Iron counties is now open.
Work is still in progress on U.S. Highway 2 at Kakagon River in Ashland County and is anticipated to be completed July 22, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The remainder of Highway 2 is open to car and light truck traffic detoured onto a local route via River Road, Old U.S. 2 and Kakagon Road. Semi-truck traffic should follow the posted truck detour via U.S. 51, WIS. 77, WIS. 13, U.S. 63 and U.S. 53.
The WisDOT continues to assess roadways for damage and detour routes as necessary. Though many routes have been reopened, use caution when traveling in impacted areas. If you see standing water, turnaround rather than trying to drive through it.
