A shooter remains at large after an apparent double shooting during an attempted robbery Monday evening at the Spur Gas Station on 27th Avenue West and Michigan Street in Duluth.
Lt. Gordon Ramsay of the Duluth Police Department said he believes one person was responsible for the shootings about 9 p.m.
"All I can say is that it looks pretty vicious," he said, adding that the two victims were shot multiple times.
Courtney Krause, 16, a Quiznos Sub sandwich shop employee, said she comforted one of the victims in the restaurant while waiting for an ambulance. She said both men were clerks at the Spur, and one of them told her that the shooter was trying to rob them, she said.
The gas station is connected to the Quiznos. Krause said she was told by her manager that the victims' injuries were not life-threatening.

The other victim was able to run across the avenue to the Holiday gas station to call for help.
The victim found in Quiznos was seen sitting up and speaking to paramedics before being taken away by ambulance about 9:15 p.m.
The sub shop had just closed, and Krause said she was doing dishes at the time. She heard about five shots, she told the News Tribune.
Ramsay later said police were at the hospital trying to interview at least one of the victims. He said he couldn't confirm a motive for the shooting.
Police were searching for a black male, about5 foot 7, 140 pounds and dressed in black. The young man was seen running from the scene on foot headed west.
There were a few eyewitnesses to the shootings. Officers also had picked up at least one suspect shortly after the shooting, but released that person.
