The drivers of two cars that hit head-on in Pine County were killed late Monday afternoon on state Highway 48 east of Hinckley.
The Minnesota State Patrol reported Tuesday that a 2012 Dodge Caravan driven by Alva Rankin, 61, of Lake Nebagamon, Wis., crossed the centerline while heading east at milepost 19 and struck a 1994 Mercury Sable driven by Jonathan Timblin, 18, of Rice Lake, Wis. Both men died from injuries suffered in the crash.
A passenger in the Mercury, Alexandria Lund, 18, of Cameron, Wis., was listed in critical condition at Essential Health St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
Rankin was airlifted to St. Luke's hospital in Duluth and Timblin went to St. Mary's.
