Two injured in three-vehicle accident in Duluth

Two people were significantly injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Haines Road and Maple Grove Road in Duluth, according to Duluth police.

Two people were significantly injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Haines Road and Maple Grove Road in Duluth, according to Duluth police.

A motorist in a 2001 Chevrolet pickup was heading west about 5:42 p.m. on Maple Grove Road when it collided with a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant that was headed east and turning left onto Haines Road. The pickup then veered to the right and hit a 2006 Honda Accord that was turning from Haines onto Maple Grove, police spokesman Brad Wick said.

The driver and passenger of the Mitsubishi reportedly were ejected from the car, suffering serious injuries. The 29-year-old man and

28-year-old woman, both of Hermantown, were transported to Essentia St. Mary's Medical Center, Wick said.

None of the other vehicle occupants reported injuries.
