A boy was thrown from a car but suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Eveleth late Monday morning.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office reports that both vehicles suffered serious damage in the accident at 7503 Wilson Road, just outside Eveleth.

According to the report, a westbound pickup truck lost control on an icy road, striking an eastbound car. Seven-year-old William Evans-Peterson was ejected from the rear seat of the car, landing in the ditch.

Evans-Peterson suffered only minor injuries, as did his grandmother, Michele Thorsen, 47, of Hoyt Lakes, a passenger in the car. Evans-Peterson was taken to a Duluth hospital but was expected to be released later Monday. Michele Thorsen was taken to Virginia Regional Medical Center and expected to be observed overnight before being released.

The driver of the car, Peter Thorsen, 52, was not injured. The driver of the pickup truck, Bryan McCloud, 30, of Virginia, was uninjured.
