Two Duluth men are accused of being involved in a beating in which the victim sustained a fractured skull and a traumatic brain injury, while police look for a third suspect believed to have been involved in the assault.

Vincent Roland Saice and Rayjon Matthew Willis, both 19, each are charged with first-degree assault-inflicting great bodily harm and third-degree assault. Duluth police are looking for Brian Saice on an arrest warrant charging him with the same crimes.

Judge Sally Tarnowski set bail for Vincent Saice and Willis at $75,000 each and ordered both men to have no contact with the alleged victim. The men were being held in the St. Louis County Jail. Their next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 12 in State District Court.

"The victim has bleeding on the brain and been diagnosed with a TBI; the extent of that is still unknown," St. Louis County prosecutor Jessica Smith said.

Police responded to a residence on the 2200 block of West Second Street about 10:42 p.m.on Wednesday on a report that a male had been hit in the head with a gun. A woman at the residence said her son had been attacked by three males who were on top of him and "going at it."

She told police that she recognized Willis as one of the attackers. Willis told police he was at the residence looking for his cell phone. Police found a pair of brass knuckles in his rear pocket.

Willis and Vincent Saice both denied that there was a third suspect involved in the assault. Willis claimed he separated Vincent Saice from the male he was fighting with and that Saice was acting in self-defense. Willis said he took the brass knuckles from the victim.

Police found the suspects' vehicle parked on the 1900 block of West Third Street near the Saice residence. Blood was found inside the vehicle.

Vincent Saice told police that he was struck by the victim, who he said was wearing brass knuckles. Saice claimed that he took the brass knuckles away from the victim after being struck.
