ST. PAUL -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency issued an air pollution health advisory for the Twin Cities area that could remain in force through Tuesday because of high ozone levels.
The MPCA said the air is at its worst in the late afternoon and early evening, causing problems for people with respiratory or cardiovascular problems as well as the elderly, children and people who are physically active.
The MPCA suggests that people exercise in the early morning, reduce or avoid heavy exertion, or move indoors to air conditioning to avoid any health problems.
People are being asked to help reduce air pollution by reducing driving when possible and postponing use of lawn mowers and other small gas or diesel engines, paints or solvents and recreational fires.
Conditions are expected to improve by Wednesday as north winds bring in cooler and drier air.
