Trailer Park Queen, a band known in the Twin Ports for its gigs in 2002 and 2003 at the Duluth-Superior GLBT Pride Festival, will return to the area to headline the third annual Geek Prom on Saturday, April 17, at the Great Lakes Aquarium.

The Geek Prom, a formal dance for adult misfits, features awkward romance, cheesy music and spastic fits of clumsy dancing.

Berni "The Trailer Park Queen" Sarazine grew up on Minnesota's Iron Range, but moved to the Twin Cities in 1983. She began performing in Twin Cities clubs in 1994 and has recorded four solo albums.

Trailer Park Queen includes Tim Kennedy on bass, Dana Mjelde and Wyatt Christian on guitars, Mike Edwards on drums, Eric Nelson on trombone and opera-trained backup singer Cheryl Scott.

In 2003, Trailer Park Queen released a live album, "The Last Barbecue," and began working on its first studio album as a band. The album is expected to be completed before, and available at, this year's Geek Prom.

Duluth's own Susan Ludwig will perform accordion music during the Geek Prom's grand march. Ludwig has won numerous awards for her musicianship, including a first-place performance in the American Accordion Association's "adult open polka" competition in 2002.
