Today will be hot. A ridge in the jet stream will push northward and warm us up to 89, with partly cloudy skies. Dew points will be in the middle to low 60s, so it will be humid. The Fourth of July is looking less hot, with an east wind developing as a high-pressure system to our northeast spins winds off of Lake Superior. Lows will be in the mid-60s and highs around 80. There is a 30 percent chance of afternoon showers and thunder as a warm front presses northward. The warm front gets us back into the upper 80s on Thursday, with lows in the mid-60s. There's a 30 percent chance of showers and thunder yet again, because the hot air will create instability. On Friday, we have a chance of more heavy rain over the Northland as an upper-level system creates uplift over the area.

Five-day forecast:

Tuesday: Partly cloudy, hot, H: 89 L: 64

Wednesday: Partly cloudy, 30 percent chance of storms, H: 81 L: 65
