Bad weather in New York City has forced cancellation of a Friday-night concert in Duluth.

The Tom Harrell concert scheduled at Weber Music Hall as part of the University of Minnesota Duluth's 42nd annual Head of the Lakes Jazz Festival is off and has not been rescheduled, the school announced.

Harrell, a trumpeter and composer, was to have flown out of New York for the concert, but after an airliner skidded off the runway at LaGuardia Airport Thursday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration closed the airport and the Harrell group's flight was canceled, the UMD announcement explained. Their Friday flights were canceled as well.

Ticket fees will be refunded.

All other Jazz Festival events will go on as planned.
