Truck driver fatally hit after exiting his truck on Minnesota freeway

MINNEAPOLIS -- A semi truck driver was killed Monday morning after he exited his vehicle and was hit by a truck on Interstate 35W.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Robert J. Passow, 47, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, had gotten out of his truck after sideswiping an unidentified passenger car on the south edge of downtown Minneapolis about 6 a.m. He was standing in the right lane photographing the damage to the car when a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado came around a curve and hit him.
Passow died after being transported to Hennepin County Medical Center via ambulance. The driver of the Silverado, 30-year-old Matthew A. Jacobson, of Rosemount, was uninjured.
