Crews will be performing maintenance work on East Superior Street in Duluth over the next six weeks.

The city's street maintenance division will start Monday on the project that includes excavation, pouring of concrete and bituminous coating, according to a news release.

The first phase will affect the segment from Congdon Park Drive to 40th Avenue East. Starting June 22, work will shift to the section between 40th and 44th avenues east.

City officials said crews will be performing approximately 80 digs along the project route in order to install an anti-corrosion system on the water main, extending its lifetime and reducing the number of breaks and leaks.
