The St. Louis County Sheriff’s office reported that Mary Patrice Ulrey was riding her bicycle about seven miles east of Cook, near the intersection of Highway 115 and Little Fork River Road, when her bike left the paved portion of the roadway and went onto the gravel shoulder, causing her to lose control.

At around 8:40 a.m., Ulrey fell off her bike and hit the paved portion of the road, causing a serious head injury, the report notes. She was taken by ambulance to the Cook Hospital and then transported by ambulance to Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.
