The Tower-Soudan Historical Society's annual dinner is taking citizens back to 1946.

On Oct. 22, the society re-creates a dinner held in 1946 when the Tower-Soudan Golden Eagles boys' basketball team made its first trip to the Minnesota State High School League tournament.

``The number of reservations just keeps getting larger every day and I keep finding more members of the 1946 Tower-Soudan basketball players,' Jayne Sundeen of the Tower-Soudan Historical Society said in a news release.

The 1946 team was state consolation champion.

So far, former players Jim Keranen, Dennis Tuomi, Don Avikainen, Bill Frazee, and Jim Stefanich, have been contacted. The late Marsh Nelson, who became a well-known television sports anchor in Duluth, was a member of the team.
