The senior pitcher helped the Eskomos earn fifth place at the Class AA state tournament by allowing just seven hits in three games. She gave up two hits in a 3-0 loss to Winona Cotter, then no-hit St. Peter in a 3-0 win and blanked Watertown-Mayer for 10 innings to win 2-1.

The junior posted a 7-over-par 74-77--151 to capture the Minnesota Class A individual championship Thursday in Onamia, Minn. He became Virginia's first individual champ since Richie Peterson won Class AA in 1976.

The senior scored a career-low 75 Thursday for a two-day total of 156 to finish second in the Class A meet in Onamia, Minn. Spangler, who will attend Truman State in Kirksville, Mo., next year, finished 34th last year.
