Outlook: The Spartans finished the regular season with a 25-20 victory at Hudson on Thursday, earning a tie for second place in the Big Rivers Conference. QB Joe Reichert threw a TD pass to Ethan Taylor and scored the game-winner from the 1-yard line. Marzett Turner rushed for 98 yards on 25 carries and Zach Colvin had 81 yards, including a 76-yard TD run. These teams have met twice in the past year, with the Evergreens winning both, 50-20 in a 2007 first-round playoff game and 16-14 in the second week of the regular season. This marks the Spartans' second consecutive year of qualifying for the playoffs after a 16-year drought. ... Everest won the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 6-0 record and had a bye in Week 9. The two-point win over the Spartans was the Evergreens' closest game as they won every conference game by double digits, including two by shutout. Everest ranked just fifth in offense (270.3 yards per game) in its conference, but first in defense (221.8). The Evergreens outscored opponents 189-59. Kyle Borrell (91-546, 11 TDs) was the leading rusher and QB Mike Augustiniak (55-for-87, 716 yards) threw only two interceptions all season.
