9:30 a.m. update
The National Weather Service reported this morning that snow showers were continuing in parts of northern Minnesota, mainly north of U.S. Highway 2. A weather service staffer reported that U.S. Highway 53 north of Cotton was coated with a thin layer of slushy snow, with visibility reduced in falling snow.
Light snow was reported in Ely and Cook at 9:30 a.m., with rain in Eveleth.
Watch out - for yourself and for other drivers - if you encounter snowy roads this morning.

Some Northland residents are waking up to a taste of winter this morning as a light rain-snow mix falls across parts of the region.
At 6 a.m. the Duluth International Airport was reporting a light rain-snow mix and 34 degrees. You may find a thin layer of slush on cars and grassy areas when you head out this morning.
Cloquet and Bigfork also reported some light snow overnight.
For the rest of the day in the Twin Ports, expect a few breaks in the clouds and highs in the mid- to upper 40s.
