The Federal Aviation Administration will award grants totaling nearly $3 million to three Northland airports, according to a release issued today by Congressman Jim Oberstar, D-Chisholm.
The grants involve the following work:
* $1.2 million for Chisholm-Hibbing Airport Authority to repair a runway, extend a taxiway and purchase a wind cone.
* $1.3 million for Brainerd Lake Regional Airport to acquire aircraft deicing and snow removal equipment.
* $500,000 for Bemidji Regional Airport to construct a taxiway

Oberstar issued a statement, saying: "The FAA is making good investments in aviation in Northeast Minnesota. These improvements will make sure that air travel to and from our region remains safe and reliable."
