The Duluth Police Department is investigating a third murder in the Duluth area in a week.
On Tuesday, Sept. 5 at 11:50 a.m., it was reported to the Duluth Police that a death had been discovered in Room 206 at the Viking Motel. Police and the St. Louis County Medical Examiner have conducted a preliminary investigation and suspect homicide. An autopsy is being performed. The victim has been identified as Jillmarie Hann VonHennchen, a Duluth woman in her mid 30s.
Investigation to date has determined that the room at the Viking Motel where the murder took place was rented by Douglas Michael Edling, 38. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Edling for second-degree murder. Police believe Edling may have left the city by a Greyhound bus bound for Minneapolis. He is wanted for questioning in connection to this investigation. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Edling is requested to contact the Duluth Police Detective Bureau at 722-3434 or their local authorites. In addition, police request information from anyone staying at the Viking Motel, located at 2511 London Road, on the night of Monday, Sept. 4.
