Two teens allegedly involved in the theft of a car from Duluth were arrested in Superior today, following more than a three-hour manhunt.
The arrest arose from the report of a vehicle in the ditch of Moccasin Mike Road about 1 p.m., according to Superior police. Two males were seen attempting to push the vehicle out of the ditch, but they fled when an officer arrived on the scene. The vehicle had been reported missing from Duluth.
An extensive ground search ensued with members of the Superior Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff's Department, the Wisconsin State Patrol and the U.S. Border Patrol all involved.
The two suspects were spotted at 4:20 p.m. running across Moccasin Mike Road to the south, and they were apprehended about 10 minutes later. Arrested on the scene were two Duluth boys, ages 15 and 17.
A press release said pending felony charges against the two include being party to the crime of operating a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and being party to the crime of receiving stolen property. A misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest also is pending.
