Duluth police said Tuesday that they arrested a 14-year-old boy after the teen allegedly threatened a school shooting.
Police said they were alerted to comments made through social media regarding a potential school shooting. A search of the suspect’s home was conducted and no firearms were located.
The suspect faces a charge of threats of violence, police said.
Although North Star Academy, the Duluth Edison charter school on Rice Lake Road, was mentioned by the suspect in previous social media posts, police said there was no direct threat made Tuesday “in regards to a particular school.”
North Star Academy officials told parents that they kept children indoors and locked the school until police gave the all-clear.
