A 31-year-old man is in jail after another man was found badly beaten on the roadside in Cook.
According to a press release from the Cook Police Department, 26-year-old Anthony James Twining of Sauk Rapids, Minn., was found lying on the sidewalk along Highway 52 in Cook shortly before midnight Thursday.
Twining had head injuries from a probable physical assault, according to the press release. He was taken to a hospital in Cook by ambulance and was then airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth.
A suspect in the assault, a man from rural Cook, was taken into custody and lodged at the St. Louis County Jail in Virginia. Charges are pending. The case remains under investigation by the Cook police and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
