A four-hour standoff between a domestic violence suspect and Superior police ended Tuesday morning with the man in custody.
The Superior Police Department’s Emergency Response Team arrived on the 4400 block of East First Street at 3:10 a.m. on a report of a man possibly armed with a handgun, Superior police said in a news release.
A woman had called 911 from a nearby home, reporting she had been battered by the suspect, her boyfriend.
Police surrounded the home until crisis negotiators made contact with the suspect by phone. He surrendered without incident at 7:15 a.m.
The man, whose name and age were not released, was arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail.
The Superior Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance staged nearby during the incident in support of the Superior police.
