After five years of serving sandwiches, Superior's Quiznos store shut its doors this week.
Slow sales prompted owner Scott Vesterstein to close the business. With the lease up on the space at 3110 Tower Ave., he decided not to renew. The restaurant served its last sandwich Thursday afternoon.
Two other Quiznos restaurants in Duluth -- both owned by Vesterstein -- have been doing well and are "there for the long term," he said.
The six employees from the Superior store have been offered positions at the Duluth locations.
"We want to try to make sure that we take care of our employees," Vesterstein said.

A flier posted on the Superior store Wednesday indicated that Quiznos will continue to deliver orders to Superior. The orders must be more than $50 and should be placed in advance.
"We look forward to continuing to serve you great subs just from a farther distance," the flier stated.
The items in the store -- including a walk-in freezer, shelving units, buckets and computers -- are being auctioned off by www.AcesBid.com .
