A man attempted to abduct a 9-year-old girl near Great Lakes Elementary School in Superior on Monday, authorities said.
The Superior Police Department reported that a tall man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, jeans and black gloves came out of the wooded area east of the school at 129 N. 28th St. E. and tried to grab the girl. The girl was able to run away from the man without further altercation and was safe at a relative's residence when the incident was reported at 4:36 p.m. Monday, according to police.
Officers conducted a thorough search of the area described by the girl, but couldn't find anyone matching the description of the man, according to police. No further information was available.
