Superior police have arrested a 19-year-old in connection with the robbery of an Allouez home Monday afternoon.

At about 12:50 p.m. Monday, officers from the Superior Police Department were dispatched to 3705 E. First St. on a report that the homeowner had come home to find two people in his residence. The homeowner chased the two apparent burglars from his residence and was able to detain one of them.

While officers were responding to the scene they found that the suspect the homeowner had detained was able to escape and flee into the wetland/brushy area to the north that is commonly referred to as the "Nemadji Fill."

Officers from the Superior Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff's Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol established a perimeter around the wooded area that was bordered by U.S. Highway 2/East Second Street, the Tri-County recreational trail and from about 31st Avenue East to 35th Avenue East.

Mutual aid was requested from the Duluth Police Department in the form of a K9 and handler. The K9 and officers searched the wooded area but were unable to locate the suspect.
